Meet Andrew and Ashley. These two... they beam happiness 24/7. No, Im really not exaggerating. Without doubt in my mind, they are the most happy, most silly, most in love couple I've ever had a chance to photograph. Oh. and Andrew happens to be my cousin (and in just a few months, Ashley will be too!). I'm so lucky to have these two as not only close friends, but as family too. Can't wait for the wedding!!

Although I do love getting pictures of babies and children in a more natural and less posed manner, props can really add so much whimsy and life to pictures! I highly encourage the use of props or just a couple personal details for portrait sessions with young children. Whether that be some cute blankets, bold accessories, a fun toy, baskets, hats, flowers... whatever it is, it always gets the creativity flowing and brings about some really cute pictures. Here's a few I took the other day :)

[Baby Olivia]

I love newborn sessions, but I don't often get the chance to photograph babies within the first few weeks of their birth. Baby Olivia was just a few weeks old, so this shoot was especially fun for me! Newborn sessions are so different than any other type of shoot since usually the subject is sleeping/crying/cant sit up. I love them so much because, first of all... who doesn't love looking at newborn babies! They're lovely... right down to their little hands and toes, little outfits, and little socks and shoes. gah. Newborn sessions challenge me as a photographer to try new things, take my time and think through shots more-so than normal, and get creative with a baby that controls the whole shoot. I'm so happy to have gotten the opportunity to capture this little-one, and hope summer brings a few more newborn sessions my direction! Here are some of my favorite shots of baby Olivia.

Can I just say before anything else, I LOVE laughter!! I love the sound of people laughing, I love laugh lines, crinkled noses, and even big toothy smiles that people get when they are laughing uncontrollably. I love how laughter brings people together, and ultimately, I love how laughter reflects joy in peoples lives.

Working with families and children as a photographer is one of my favorite things to do because I see their joy in being together. In some families, joy just radiates, and this family was no exception. The shoot was close to being canceled due to rain earlier in the day, but luckily, the weather held out. The sky cleared and we ended up having amazing light and a great location to take pictures. Here are my favs :)

These pictures were taken in Old Town Gaithersburg a few weeks back. It was nice to have the opportunity to photograph this family. The two little boys were so adorable - running around the playground, watching the big trains - all wide-eyed as they scampered on past us. I love shooting at this location, and even though the Maryland humidity was pretty strong that day, the images came out nice. I got to get to know another great family. :) This is why I love my job - meeting new people, and having the opportunity to give them photographs that they will enjoy for years to come.

PS- I got new photoshop actions this week, so I tried something different with some of the pictures by messing around with action combinations... enjoy!

Ha ha - it took some time to get used to the loud trains that would pass by.

The Ryan's brought a new addition to their family June 4, 2010, and let me just say, she is a cute addition. :P Emily was just a few weeks old when we took pictures, and it was soo nice getting to photograph a newborn (i've only had the opporotunity a couple times)! So, as you can probably notice, there has been some major slacking going on as far as my blogging goes this year... Oops! :P That is one thing I really haven't been keeping up with because of academics and senior year 'stuff'. The next set of photos are of my friend Devin, who has also been my classmate since middle school.

I love taking pictures of children and families, but I really love to take pictures of my friends and classmates. I almost feel like I shouldn't call it work because its so fun and chill... This shoot with Devin was NO exception. We had lots of laughs, and spent the entire shoot reminiscing about the past few years, and talking about our future college plans.

Let me tell you about Devin. She is one of the hardest workers I've ever met. She participates in volleyball and our school plays. On top of that and school, she has had some of the highest grades in the class throughout high school.

Now that I'm just 2 weeks away from no longer having the label 'high schooler', I'm looking back and seeing all the great memories I have and the friendships that were made. But, if I could go back and change one thing, I would be more motivated with my schoolwork. Up until my junior year, I felt like high school was never going to end, and there were times I had that mind-set, "I'll do better next test, next semester, or next year". WRONG! It does come to an end...and it goes fast! I've been motivated this year more than ever because of this reality. I'm just hoping that my 'new and improved' mind-set sticks through college.

Okay, it's time for me to stop writing and just let you see the portraits of my gorgeous friend! Enjoy! :D

2009 has come to an end, and 2010 is here. I am in shock at how fast the year has come and gone, but it was a really good one. I'm working weddings with a Baltimore photography, Ellen Cohn. It's been a great experience, and I'm looking forward to more weddings to come. This year has also been a big growing year for L.M. Photography. I had the first successful mini-shoot weekend, and I'm really grateful for all the families I got to meet and and jobs I was able to photograph. It was definitely a year full of growth, and crossing my fingers, 2010 will be even better! Last but not least, I was able to be the lead photographer at a wedding in December. I had a great second shooter assisting me (thanks, Abbie). I feel blessed that my first wedding was for Brandon and Melissa, such a great couple. They were sweet and full of joy throughout the entire day, and it was amazing to watch them together. Melissa is gorgeous, and one of the sweetest brides I've ever worked with. Here's some of the moments I captured from their beautiful wedding day.

Life has been super busy the past couple months, and blogging my recent weddings/portrait sessions have been the last thing on my to-do list when it should really be first! I successfully completed my first college exams, and passed them with flying colors. There was also the weekend of mini-shoots, and that was a new experience for me. I got to meet lots of new and really awesome families and children, and luckily the weather stayed perfect. For future reference, I will be doing the mini-shoot weekend differently next year. But thats really far from now, so no need to go into details. Now we're a day away from December, and time has flown.
Being so close to December, means only one thing. FINAL EXAMS. yikes. It's been crunch time these past two weeks of the semester, but I really wanted to post pictures from the mini-shoot weekend.

And the last piece of exciting news is that my first wedding (as the main shooter! GAH! can't contain my excitement) is right around the corner! December 11th. A date I've kept in my mind for months now. I've known about it since summer, and now that its getting closer to the date, I think about it every day...and I love the bride - she is sweet, funny, and awesome.

I've shot 5 or 6 weddings I haven't posted pictures yet, but I am hoping to get to those soon. Here are some pictures from the mini-shoot weekend. enjoy. :)

I took pictures of this family back in January, back when Kieran was a newborn. When I arrived at there house last week to take new pictures, I couldn't believe my eyes! Kieran had got so big, and unlike our first shoot, she could NOT stop smiling! She was funny, and didn't mind the camera as you can tell... :P

A few weekends back, I took engagement pictures in DC for Courtney and Josh. I thought the idea of both wearing their college T-shirts was so cute! Taking pictures in our nations capitol with the monuments as a backdrop was a perfect plan for this shoot. We found a great monument (that I had never even seen before!!) - the WWI memorial as one of our settings. It was tucked away in a clump of trees between the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial, and everything about it was perfect (especially the fact that it was tourist free!). :)

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but doesn't the tree in the background of the picture look heart shaped?! We definitely didn't plan that.

I work as Ellen Cohn's second shooter. This week was Jared and Jessica's wedding. Once again, we crossed our fingers that the rain would hold off for this outdoor ceremony at the Kent Manor Inn. The rain clouds left, and they ended up with a beautiful evening. :P Here are some shots from their special day.

I took pictures of the Sperling family this past fall at a pumpkin patch, and really enjoyed this family. When they emailed me a couple weeks ago to set up a last minute second session, I couldn't wait. They are super nice and are comfortable with the camera. The day that we scheduled this last minute shoot, and it was pouring outside. Just an hour later, I looked out the window to find that everything was golden and sun-kissed...the perfect evening light for a photo shoot. Although the glowy-golden-y light left quickly, we captured the left-overs of it in the form of a beautiful sunset. :)

Little Maddy loves the water. She couldn't get enough throwing of pebbles into the lake, and seeing them splash.

Oh how I love these next 3 shots. I asked Maddy to show me the rock she found, and this is what she did. She is such a cutie. :P

She liked the honeysuckle that her father gave her. When I was younger, I LOVED honeysuckles!!
After taking a few pictures by the lake, we headed up to the park. The storm clouds rolled in, and the rain came down. The rain did not deter us - we whipped out the umbrellas and got a few shots, of course!

I was second shooter for Ellen Cohn at Emily and Michael's wedding a few weeks back. As Ellen photographed the bride and her bridesmaids, I walked down the streets of Wilmington, Delaware, met up with the guys, and took some group shots of them at the church. They were one funny group, and made my job great fun. :)
They preferred funny weird group shots over the traditional ones, and who can blame them?!

This flower girl was such a cutie! Right after the ceremony was over and the group formals began, she plopped down into the pew, and whipped off her little white shoes. She looked up at me and said, "They hurt and are sweaty"! I then teashed her by saying, "Stinky feet!". She lifted up her shoe, took a good sniff and said, "They actually aren't!" haha.

This was a great day, and the bride and groom were an all around fun couple. Let the party begin....

The band, Nightlife was one of the best entertainment I've seen so far. They had awesome voices and talent. Sooo, of course everyone wanted to join them on stage to have their shot at a solo! The bride, groom, and best man sang there hearts out, and danced like there was no tomorow. It was great to watch!

So, I have never had to re-schedule a shoot as many time as I did for this family due to the crazy Maryland weather! We had to re-schedule, around 3 times, and it finally worked out! But it was worth it, because the weather that day was amazing. The sun was out and it was the perfect temperature. Oh, and it was the fourth of July! Which made it ten times better, because who DOESN't love the fourth. :P Especially when you spend it at our nations capitol (which my family did!) Ok, back to the shoot. This family was so nice, and I had a great time taking pictures of them. Here are some of my favorites. and of course, a few fireworks pictures. :) enjoy!!

This is the second wedding I have second shot for Ellen Cohn, a photographer based out of the Baltimore area, and I am loving it!! Luckily, there will be many more to come this summer. But in my whole career of second shooting or interning as a wedding photographer, this was probably top 3 prettiest venues I have seen yet. This cute little bed and breakfast tucked away in the woods right outside of downtown Baltimore, is called the Gramercy Mansion. A perfect location for an outdoor mid-spring wedding. Lauren and Josh's wedding was beautiful.

[The Poe's]

This is the second wedding I got to second shoot with Lydia, and it was simply AMAZING. This end of May wedding was on a day where the rain wouldnt stop, and it certainly wasnt just trickling down. it was pouring for hours on end. So I know that doesnt make for an amazing wedding day, especially when its suppose to be outdoors at this beautiful manor, but what happened that afternoon made it such a cute story. The bride and groom didnt want to see eachother before the wedding ceremony itself, so they were talking back and forth on walkie talkies. They couldnt make a decision of whether they were to bring the wedding inside, or just wait the rain out, and see if it would clear up (we could see sun in the distance). They both took a leap of faith, and put off the wedding about 45 minutes. finally, the rain and dark clouds cleared, and what took its place was the most stunning sunset I had seen in a long time. it was truly a miracle, and I am sure everyone there that witnessed it won't forget that ceremony, especially the bride and groom, who got their dream outdoor wedding. :)

right when the ceremony started, i looked behind me and saw this awesome, awesome view. I still cant believe the weather that day went from one extremely rainy day, to a golden glowy sunset!

Instead of doing the traditional bouquet toss, the bride decided to give it to the groom's grandparents, who have been married more than 50 years, and that day was their anniversary. :)

Family Reunion

This was by far the biggest group of people I have ever photographed. It was a challenge with all those little ones, but I had a great time with this big, happy family. They were so kind and funny, and made my job great. :)

Cameron... This girl is SUCH a cutie pie. I have done a few photoshoots with her now, and she loves being in front of the camera. :)

Oh, how great it was to get back into shooting weddings! I had the pleasure of second shooting for Ellen Cohn, a great photographer from the Baltimore area, a couple weekends ago. I hope you will seeing many more pictures from weddings. I'll be second shooting with her throughout the summer. It was dark and rainy outside that day, but you know what they say... it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day. :P Not exactly the dream conditions for photographers though. Here are some of the moments I captured throughout Melinda and Ryan's wedding. :)

Ok... Wow... So, I haven't blogged about ANYTHING SOOO long!!! Here is a re-cap of the past couple months...
I begin with SHAMROCK FEST '09!!! If you don't know what that is, well, its a St. Patty's festival with TONS of people, 50 bands, a bunch of DJ's, and seven stages. it was GRREEATT!!! These pictures were taken with my friends camera because they don't allow pro photographers into the festival. Here we are on the metro to RFK stadium. You know how on big important days, things are always bound to go wrong... well... this Jared forgot his ticket tothe festival! We cheerfully turned around so he could get his ticket...
Here we are listening to a band.
You can see the progression of us getting wetter as the day goes on. By eight at night, we were SOAKED!!! It rained all day, but if you stay in the crowd and keep moving, you stayed warm. :P
Our favorite part by far of this day was getting to see Flogging Molly!!!! It was crazy - the crowd was enormous, it was raining pretty hard, but it was the best time ever!

Now for school... After much patience, we got our couch back in the hallway!!! they had to repair it or something. We have already tried to see how many people we could possibly fit on it, and it was about three fourths of our class! haha.
Let's backtrack to valentines day...well...the day before. All the guys in our highschool made the girls a lovely pancake breakfast, gave us flowers, and wrote us the CUTEST song ever!!! Our class has the best guys!
Yearbook has been keeping me VERY busy these days, but today it was finally submitted and we are officially DONE! Over the past two months I've been going to a lot of sporting events, taking my camera to school pretty much every day...

The newest sporting event in our school is the boys wrestling team! The guys did pretty good considering it was the first year of their program.

Our school's pep-rally... This was also new to our school this year. This picture is from the best/most creative dunk contest. Yep, our class rules!
And then as far as photoshoots, I took pictures of my relatives the Dassoulas Family It was a quick and crazy shoot - everyone was sick and it was cold and windy. We'll do a few make-up pictures when the weather's warm and everyone's well!

here is our first good snowfall/snowday of the year!! (and sadly, it was the last one too!) This is my doggy Sparky. He no longer likes the snow very much since he is 16! A very old doggy. he braved the weather like a tough guy, though!

This is a glimpse of what my life has consisted of the past fewmonths (of course there was lots of other memories, but I gotta keep this post to a reasonable length!)

This segment is of my life over Christmas break. :D
The first official day of our Christmas break, some of the girls got together and had a cookie baking party.
On Christmas Eve, we went to the Tvardzik's house and spent the evening with most of our relatives.

A few days after Christmas, my friends and I started off the fun by going to Cheeburger Cheeburger, and then back to a friends houseTake two. Bowling night. This was a blast.

Lastly, I hung out with Kim and Michelle for a couple hours before going out with my cousins. I promised Kim a photo shoot back in late spring and we just now got to it! Kimberly is gorgeous.

end Christmas break with a bang, My uncle rented out the ENTIRE bowling alley for MIDNIGHT BOWLING!!! With the neon lights, disco balls, and everything. Those pictures will eventually make their way onto my blog!

The day finally came when Emily, Michelle, Corey and I had our photoshoot. The sun was setting fast, and Emily's creative juices were flowing (check her pics out by clicking here), and we had a fun and crazy time racing against the clock. I have taken pictures for Miss Laura's party business this past summer, and it was pretty much the coolest party I had ever seen. :D And now, I'm doing a family shoot. It got REALLY cold out, and my fingers almost FROZE, but we went to a nice lake with an awesome tree to take pictures, and it was worth it! That tree was a lot of fun for the girls. These are some of my favorites from the shoot.

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the colors in the leaves, how the sunsets are always gorgeous and come early, people bundled up in sweaters and hats, how with every step you take, you hear a crunching from under your feet... the list goes on for me. :D That's why I am so excited about all of my fall photo shoots!!! And this was one of the most fun shoots I've had in a while. Maddie was too cute! Here are some of my favorites. ;D

On Friday afternoon, I went to Abbie's house and we had a fun photo shoot. We went into the power line fields, and took some pics in the tall grasses (there were SOOO MANY CRICKETS! EW!) Once we got over the whole bug problem, everything went well. We had SO much fun, and as you can tell from the pictures, we had LOTS of laughs! here are some of my favorites from that day. :D

SPIRIT WEEK! :D and soccer games!

The past couple weeks at school have been busy, busy, busy! First, there were soccer games. :D The varsity boys and girls Cougars always make the games exciting to watch. Last week was our first ever, Covenant Life spirit week! It was pretty much a HUGE deal to us private-schoolers. ;) we enjoyed it a LOT. I would have to say that our class ('10) brought our A-game when it came to creativity with outfits. This is pretty long post, just to warn you! Ahh. The beautiful Brookeside Gardens. :D I was so excited when Jaylin requested that the shoot take place there because its GORGEOUS! So, this shoot was on a Sunday, and for two days before it, it was stormy and rainy out. I was soooo worried this shoot would get cancelled, but luckily, the sun came out and the birds were singing just in time for the shoot! :D We couldn't have asked for better weather. These two girls were so cute! And their mother packed toys and treats for the entire afternoon. They loved it! :D

We found some shade, then pulled out a parachute for the girls to play with.

And yes, of course there were snacks!

These two cuties were so easy to work with. The shoot was AWESOME! :D It's funny though, because from my past shoots, I've noticed it is harder to get the three-year old to smile than it is for the baby, but this time, the roles were reversed. In the end, Celia gave me a few smiles and laughs, and all went well! Here are some of my favorite shots from the day. :D haha. ;)

These two girls were so cute (and great little models!) This shoot was filled with LOTS of fun stuff... bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and lollypops. And the girls LOVED the lollypops. I mean, really, who can blame them?!

Cousins Come to Town!

This past Thursday, some of our cousins from Ocean City and Utah visited for a couple days. It was a lot of fun, and nice to just hang out and hear stories from when my mom and her cousin were teenagers.
This is Gracie Jean - she's 16 months old and cute as can be!

Julie and Michael's Wedding

On the 4th of July, I helped shoot a wedding with Robin Shotola. The bride and groom were Julie and Michael, and they were a funny, outgoing couple. Even though the weather was not what was wanted, everything else wasgreat. :D here are some pictures from their wedding day.
This was pretty funny. As soon as she walked through the doors of the church, all the guest's were able to see the bride, which she didn't want. So, she had her bridesmaids form a wall so she could get inside without being seen. :D

I like this picture a lot. I took my picture at the same time Robin's flash went off.
I think pearls are the perfect accessory for any bride to wear. :D
